Heirloom Redesign
Turn inherited, outdated, or unworn jewelry into a custom piece you’ll love wearing every day. We thoughtfully redesign heirloom stones and precious materials into something personal, modern, and deeply meaningful.
Preserve the meaning. Reimagine the piece.
Some jewelry is too sentimental to leave in a box, but not quite right to wear as it is. Heirloom redesign is a way to keep what matters most — a stone, an engraving, a setting detail, or simply the story — and transform it into a piece made for this chapter of your life.
Whether you have an inherited ring, a dated setting, loose stones, or several small pieces you’d like to combine, we can help you explore what’s possible. Many redesign projects begin with existing gemstones, and in some cases metals can also be reused or credited toward the new design depending on the piece and project.
What can be redesigned
- Inherited rings
- Outdated engagement rings
- Family diamonds or colored stones
- Broken or unworn fine jewelry
- Pendants, earrings, and bracelets
- Multiple heirloom pieces combined into one new design
Our process
1. Consultation
We begin by learning about your piece, your style, and what you hope the new design will become. This first conversation helps define what you want to preserve and what you’re ready to reimagine.
2. Stone and material review
We assess your existing stones and discuss whether they can be safely removed and reset into a new design. Depending on the piece, existing gold may be reused directly, refined, or applied as credit toward the new design.
3. Design development
From there, we develop design ideas based on your goals, inspiration, and the materials available. This stage may include sketches, reference imagery, or CAD renderings so you can visualize the finished piece before production begins.
4. Approval and estimate
Once the design direction is finalized, you’ll receive a clear quote and next steps for moving into production.
5. Crafting your new heirloom
After approval, your new piece is created with care and intention. Timelines vary by project depending on complexity and production schedule.
Why choose heirloom redesign
- Preserve sentimental stones and stories
- Update an outdated design into something you’ll actually wear
- Combine multiple pieces into one more meaningful heirloom
- Give family jewelry a future, not just a past
Past pieces, reimagined
Every redesign begins differently. Some clients want to modernize a family ring. Others want to combine several inherited stones into one wearable piece, or transform a meaningful but damaged item into something entirely new.

Frequently asked questions: Heirloom Redesign Jewelry
-
Can you use my existing stones?
In many cases, yes. Existing diamonds and gemstones are often the starting point for a redesign, though each stone should be evaluated for condition and suitability before being reset.
-
Can you reuse my gold?
Sometimes. Depending on the metal, condition, and design goals, gold may be reused directly, refined, or applied as credit toward the new piece.
-
Can you combine more than one piece into a single design?
Yes - combining multiple rings or inherited pieces into one custom design is a common redesign request.
-
What if my jewelry is damaged?
That does not always mean it cannot be redesigned. Stones and materials are typically inspected first so the safest options can be recommended for the new piece.
-
How long does heirloom redesign take?
Timelines vary by project, but custom redesign work often takes anywhere from several weeks to a few months depending on complexity.
-
How do I get started?
The best first step is to share photos of your piece, what you know about its history, and any ideas about how you’d like to wear it now.
